Sporrans are small pouches worn at the front of a kilt as part of traditional Highland dress. They act as a pocket substitute, used to carry small items and provide coverage when wearing a kilt. read more about kilt sporrans.

Sporrans are small pouches worn with kilts to carry personal items, as traditional kilts have no pockets. They also serve as a decorative accessory that complements traditional Scottish dress.

Sporrans are made from materials such as leather, tartan, horsehair, rabbit fur, and sealskin, often decorated with metal or embroidery. They serve both practical and decorative purposes.

A sporran is worn at the front of the kilt, hanging from a chain or strap around the waist. It should sit centered, just below the belt, resting over the kilt apron.

A sporran is used to carry small personal items such as money, keys, and mobile phones. It functions as a practical pouch, continuing its traditional role of holding daily essentials.

A sporran is made by cutting leather or fur into shape, stitching it into a pouch, and attaching a flap and tassels. The final step is adding a chain or strap so it can be worn around the waist.

It should hang about 4–5 inches below the top of the kilt, roughly no more than a hand’s width. It should be centered and aligned with the belt buckle and waistcoat buttons to form a straight vertical line.
